Policy Statement Email Billing Policy Privacy Policy

1. Publicly Posted Information
 

1.1

All files, messages, and other information posted to any network on the Internet by a Mag-Net member are the sole responsibility of that member.

 

1.2

Section 1.1 notwithstanding, information posted on computers at Mag-Net may not slander or persecute individuals or identifiable groups of people. Such information may be removed at the discretion of Mag-Net management.

 

1.3

Mag-Net management reserves the right to remove any information at any time.

    
2.

Member Accounts

 

2.1

Except as specifically authorized by Mag-Net, member accounts are to be used only by members of the group or organization named by the account.

 

2.2

All accounts are granted subject to compliance with the policy statement. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in account termination.

 

2.3

The management of Mag-Net reserves the right to cancel or refuse Internet service at any time without giving notice of intention to do so.

 

2.4

Our low rates are based upon long-term user patterns projections. We are unable to offer refunds for unused portions of memberships.

 

2.5

Member is responsible for charges incurred at the time the service is used and Mag-Net may apply the amount due to member’s credit card at any time.

 

2.6

All payments on accounts may be verified prior to crediting accounts. Returned cheques or rejected credit card transactions will be charged back to the member’s account along with a $20.00 service charge.

 

2.7

Member Internet services may be temporarily deactivated or restricted due to non-payment on account.

 

2.8

Member understands and agrees that individual dial-up account is for single-user, interactive use only. Other use not explicitly authorized by Mag-Net --- Including, without limitation, connection of networks or bulletin board systems, resale of Internet services, or non-interactive bulk file transfer --- is prohibited.

   
3. Limitation of Remedies and Damages
 

3.1

In no event will Mag-Net, it’s directors, officers, employees, or affiliates be liable to you for any consequential, incidental, indirect or special damages whatsoever (including, without limitation, damages for loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business information and the like), whether foreseeable or unforeseeable.

   
4. Acceptable Use
 

4.1

Mag-Net’s facilities may not be used to harass any member, non-member or system operator.

 

4.2

No User of Mag-Net facilities shall use them to encourage, facilitate, or engage in illegal activities.

 

4.3

Members shall make use of Mag-Net services in a manner that will not interfere with reasonable use by other members.

 

4.4

Member agrees to follow the Acceptable Use Policy of any network member connects to.

 

4.5

Use of Mag-Net services for profit-seeking activity associated with advertising or promotion of a commercial product or service without a Mag-Net business account is prohibited. Reselling of web space on the Mag-Net web servers is prohibited.

 

4.6

The following violations of “netiquette” are grounds for immediate suspension of service pending investigation by Mag-Net and will result in termination of the account(s) the investigation determines to have originated or transmitted these types of traffic.

   

(a)

Posting a single article or substantially similar articles to an excessive number of newsgroups (i.e., more than 20) or continued posting of articles which are off-topic (e.g., off-topic according to the newsgroup charter or the article provokes complaints from the regular readers of the newsgroup for being off topic).

   

(b)

Sending unsolicited mass emailing (i.e., to more than 25 users) which provoke complaints from the recipients.

   

(c)

Engaging in either (a) or (b) from a provider other than Mag-Net and using an account on Mag-Net as a mail drop for responses.

   

(d)

Continued harassment of other individuals on the Internet after being asked to stop by those individuals and by Mag-Net.

   

(e)

Impersonating another Internet user or otherwise falsifying one’s user name in email, Usenet postings, on IRC, or with any other Internet service. (This does not preclude the use of nicknames in IRC or the use of anonymous remailer services.)

   

(f)

Use of IRC “bots” on Mag-Net, with any IRC server. Such software may not be stored on Mag-Net.

   

(g)

Use of “cracking tools” or other software whose primary purpose is to attack Internet connected computers or defeat security measures. Such software may not be stored on Mag-Net.

 

4.7

Users whose accounts are terminated for any of the above infractions are also responsible for the cost of labour to cleanup and respond to complaints incurred by Mag-Net.

 
5. Termination of Internet Service
 

5.1

Members may terminate their account at any time by paying any outstanding charges and notifying Mag-Net in writing, in person, or by electronic mail.

 

5.2

A block time account that has not been used for dialup access for one year is considered abandoned and may be terminated at the discretion of Mag-Net management. Unused block time on abandoned accounts is not refundable.

 

5.3

Administrative fees and partial months are not refundable under any circumstances.

 

5.4

Requests for refunds from Mag-Net must be made in writing within 30 days of account termination. Any applicable refunds will be issued by cheque and mailed via Canada Post to the postal address on file.

   
6. Policy Changes
 

6.1

This policy statement is subject to change without notice. An up to date policy statement is always available from Mag-Net. Significant changes will be announced appropriately.
